I am sick of hearing from the Mets ownership that they feel the elite players (Holliday, Bay and Lackey) in the FA market are too expensive. The Mets are one of the most profitable franchise in baseball. They have the money to purchase at least 2 of these players and they owe it to the fans to make up for the embarrassment from this year. However I think the most important thing for the Mets to do is bring in good character ball players into the clubhouse. Matt Holliday is a very good player and is known for being a good teammate, also his agent Mr Boras has good relations with the Mets and Matt wants to play in New York. This is a no brainier in my mind. SPEND THE MONEY!!! please.
