Not to be outdone by Nick Swisher or Jim Nantz on “How I Met Your Mother,” Joe Torre will be making an appearance on the small screen. And by appearance, I mean two appearances. The Dodgers’ skipper will appear on TWO different television shows next month.
Torre, who is not exactly easy on the eyes, will be a guest star on ABC’s “Castle” and CBS’ “Gary Unmarried.” That’s right: two shows on two different networks. That’s how JT2K10 rolls. Here’s a short description of what each episode will entail:
The “Castle” series takes place in New York, where a suspense writer tags along with a female detective who is his latest muse. Just go with it.
The Torre episode is called “Suicide Squeeze,” which ABC describes as about a beloved former major league baseball player found dead after a goodwill trip to Cuba. Torre leads the detectives into New York’s Cuban community to help solve the murder. And maybe discover a fifth starter.
Can’t figure out what city “Garry Unmarried” takes place, but it’s not Manhattan. A suburb somewhere. Torre previously did the voice work, playing himself, in the animated “Everyone’s Hero,” where a kid tries to return a Babe Ruth bat to Yankee Stadium.
Yes, both roles will have Torre playing a New York baseball personality. Funny how that works out. I’m actually very curious as to how Torre secured both roles. Is his agent working overtime or are the networks really pushing that hard for him to guest star? Hopefully, he stole the work from Joe Buck. Because that over-exposed douchebag with a mirage-for-hair sucks.
