In June, Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder called Rex Ryan the “OTA Super Bowl winner.” Ryan responded to the comments by claiming he didn’t know who Crowder was. The Jets head coach also said the he basically would’ve just beaten up Crowder if he were younger.
Crowder fired back by saying, “I’d have beat the hell out of that big old joker.” He then offered up his dad or uncle to fight Rex Ryan. With the Jets set to play the Dolphins two times in the span of a month, you’d think the war of words would be heating up.
Instead, exactly the opposite has happened. On Thursday, Ryan told reporters he was “clearly joking” and that his tone was not “reflected in that way.” Crowder echoed Ryan’s sentiments saying they were “just messing around.”
The Dolphins’ linebacker went one step further and even sent Rex Ryan a gift basket. Crowder didn’t specify what he sent, but did say that the New York head coach sent him a “thank you” card. As you can see, this rivalry is really getting nasty. Hopefully, they both come to their senses before somebody gets hit with an invitation to dinner.
