The New York Rangers won their sixth straight game on Wednesday to push them to 12 points. That ties them with the Penguins for the most points in the NHL.
Vaclav Prospol netted two goals while Marian Garborik scored his sixth of the season and Brian Boyle tallied his first. Marian Gaborik is now tied with Mike Richards (who had a hat trick in his first game) for the most goals in the NHL. Aaron Voros didn’t get many shifts, but he did fight Los Angeles thug Sean O’Donnell. Standout rookie defenseman Michael Del Zotto had two more assists — one of which came on the power play.
Yahoo’s Puck Daddy named Henrik Lundqvist the number one star of the night. Handsome Hank had 34 saves and the Rangers were even outshot 10-1 in the third period. The best save may have been the stop of Teddy Purcell’s rebound chance off of a 2-on-1.
The Rangers look like they should continue their winning ways unless they’re hurt by a lack of depth on the blueline. I like Del Zotto and Gilroy, but I doubt both rookies will be successful playing veteran minutes for a full 82 game season plus playoffs.
