This is one of the crazier “trick plays” that you’ll see in hockey. The scoop move used was popularized by Mike Legg of Michigan in the 90s. Sidney Crosby also utilized the move in his junior career.
But this may be the best scoop/lacrosse move I’ve seen. The video is from Croatia with Zagreb Medvescak facing Alba. Aaron Fox of Zagreb Medvescak holds the puck behind the net before realize that the goalie and the defender in the slot are sleeping.
The 33-year-old American journeyman then picks up the puck with the blade of his stick and throws it in the net. It’s more impressive than most of these goals because, whether intentional or not, Fox deposits the puck in the three hole. Typically, guys try to put the pick in the “one hole” above the goalie’s right shoulder. However, Fox actually ends up throwing the puck UNDER the goalie’s stick hand and the defender’s stick.
