As we mentioned Tuesday, ten of the New York Rangers were set to appear on Letterman last night. The participants included Henrik Lundqvist, Marian Gaborik, Sean Avery, Chris Drury, Chirstopher Higgins, Marc Staal, Ryan Callahan, Brandon Dubinsky, Dan Girardi, and Donald Brashear. The topic was “Things Never Before Spoken By A Hockey Player.” I thought it was interesting that they gave Sean Avery #1 — presumably because the most people know who he is. Handsome Hank AKA Henrik Lundqvist got to announce #2 on the Top Ten. Long-time Letterman viewers know that #2 is always the best line while #1 is hit or miss. So maybe they were just trying to hang Avery out to dry. You can see the video of the Top Ten at the bottom of this post.
The boys wore their blue uniforms to the taping and took photos with a Letterman Rangers jersey beforehand. Hilariously, Henrik Lunqvist was singled out for some photos. The Blueshirts stuck around to carry Madonna in for her interview on a platform of hockey sticks (pictured below). I’m glad they made sure Lundqvist was leading the way. It’s only a matter of time before Page Six reports that Avery and Madonna are shacking up.
