Brandon Jacobs and the G-Men should run over the Redskins Monday night...
We’re starting a new thing at BLS where we’ll walk you through the weekend’s local games (with our spin of course) and wrap things up with my inaugural STAMP OF THE WEEK. So, here goes nothin…
Saturday December 19 (aka “Today”)
Who: New York Rangers (15-16-3, 33pts) @ Philadelphia Flyers (15-16-2, 32pts)
When: 7PM, MSG Network
What: The Rangers travel through a snowstorm down I-95 this evening to take on the Flyers for the first time this season. The two teams split six match ups last year straight down the middle. The Flyers are the only Atlantic Division team with less points than the Blueshirts, so hopefully the Rangers can score a flurry of goals and grab the two points in Philly.
Who: Rutgers Scarlet Knights (8-4) vs. UCF Knights (8-4) – St. Petersburg Bowl presented by Beef ‘O’ Brady’s
When: 8PM, ESPN
What: Rutgers kicks off bowl season tonight at the Trop in good old St. Pete. The Scarlet Knights have dropped two out of their last three games and would like to close the season a positive note. They will likely be without senior wideout Tim Brown (not to be confused with senior citizen Tim Brown), who averaged more than 20 yards per reception in each of the past two seasons.
Sunday December 20 (aka “Tomorrow”)
Who: New York Jets (7-6) vs. Atlanta Falcons (6-7)
When: 1PM, FOX
What: The Jets play host to the Falcons on Sunday afternoon with major playoff implications for both squads. The Jets got some help Thursday night with the Colts knocking off Jacksonville, but they need to keep winning. Mark Sanchez is due to return to action and I stand by my belief that he can’t possibly be any worse than Kellen Clemens (is he one of Roger’s sons?). The Falcons’ hopes are on life support and things don’t look any better for them if Matt Ryan and Michael Turner miss this match up. Lastly, I am thoroughly uncomfortable with the idea of Darrelle Revis covering Roddy White during my fantasy football semi-finals.
Who: New York Knicks (9-17) vs. Charlotte Bobcats (10-14)
When: 7:30PM, MSG
What: The Knicks try to avenge a loss earlier in the week in Charlotte as the Bobcats visit the World’s Most Famous Arena. Mike D’Antoni’s crew has been playing better of late, even avoiding the embarrassment of losing to the LA Clippers Friday night.
Monday December 21
Who: New York Giants (7-6) vs. Washington Redskins (4-9)
When: 8:30PM, ESPN
What: The Giants hopes may not control their own destiny in the NFC playoff race, but they need to defeat the Redskins at FedEx Field on Monday if they want to stay in the thick of things. The Redskins sucks, their GM quit this week and they are apparently negotiating with the perennially tan Mike Shanahan to man their sidelines next season even though they already have a coach… If you can call him that. The Giants offense looked great last week, and their defense should return to form playing against a Redskins outfit that is missing its top three running backs and has had trouble scoring for two years now.
STAMP OF THE WEEK
I’m going to use my first projection in this space to both promote my favorite college basketball team and upset the OCD by predicting failure for his hometown university.
The North Carolina Tar Heels tip off this afternoon against the Texas Longhorns in the first basketball game played in Cowboys Stadium. This 10th ranked Heels team is battled tested early, already having played games against highly ranked teams Syracuse, Kentucky, Michigan State and Ohio State. While they’ve dropped a couple of those games, the Heels will prevail over the Longhorns this afternoon as they start running from the jump and don’t let up until the Longhorns tap out.
Heels by a dozen. STAMP IT.

Chris sorry but you are 0-2 already. Rangers game was at 1pm not 7pm and Texas beat UNC by 13.
Nice "stamp of the week" LARRY!..
Next up for domination, Bama!
