The world’s former number one is currently an unseeded entrant into the Rogers Cup. That didn’t bother Sharapova ans she dropped 14th-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland in the quarterfinals. Maria moves on to face fellow Russian Alisa Kleybanova in the semifinals. The other semifinal match features 2nd seed Serena Williams and 4th seed Elena Dementieva. Chances are that a Russian will win the $350,000 tournament prize with Williams as the only non-Russian remaining.
