The NFL announced the All-Decade team for the 2000s on Sunday. The group was headlined by quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning along with Willie Roaf, Larry Allen, and Warren Sapp who were also on the 1990’s team. Here’s the squad:
Coaches: Tony Dungy, Bill Belichick
Offense: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Shaun Alexander, Jamal Lewis, Edgerrin James, LaDainian Tomlinson, Lorenzo Neal, Marvin Harrison, Torry Holt, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Tony Gonzalez, Antonio Gates, Walter Jones, Jonathan Ogden, Orlando Pace, Alan Faneca, Steve Hutchinson, Will Shields, Olin Kreutz, Kevin Mawae, Willie Roaf, Larry Allen
Defense: Ray Lewis, Derrick Brooks, Joey Porter, Zach Thomas, Brian Urlacher, DeMarcus Ware, Julius Peppers, Michael Strahan, Jason Taylor, Dwight Freeney, La’Roi Glover, Richard Seymour, Kevin Williams, Warren Sapp, Ronde Barber, Champ Bailey, Ty Law, Charles Woodson, Brian Dawkins, Troy Polamalu, Ed Reed, Darren Sharper
Special Teams: Dante Hall, Joshua Cribbs, Devin Hester, David Akers, Adam Vinatieri, Shane Lechler, Brian Moorman
Most of the selections make sense. Though it’s amazing that Warren Sapp managed to make two all-decade teams. Twelve of the players on the All-2000s team also made the 2010 Pro Bowl. Dante Hall made the team even though he’s only played 15 games since 2006. Shaun Alexander is a slight surprise since he only had a little over 1600 rush yards in three seasons after 2005.
