VIDEO: CHAD OCHOCINCO BALLROOM DANCING IN 2006

You my have already heard that Chad Ochocinco (formerly known as Johnson) will be on the new cast of Dancing with the Stars.  He’ll probably do pretty well since playing wide receiver has a lot of emphasis on footwork.  Plus, Ochocinco used to play soccer.  But he also may have some real dancing experience up his sleeves.  We came across a video from a few years ago that shows Ochocinco taking dance lessons.  You know, back when he wasn’t the #1 most annoying player in the NFL.

WILL CHAD OCHOCINCO PLAY SOCCER IN ITALY?

Chad (Johnson) Ochocinco with Ronaldinho of AC Milan

Even if there are no NFL games in 2011, Chad Ochocinco still plans on playing football. The Bengals wide receiver has indicated that he may jump to Europe to play soccer if there’s a work stoppage in the NFL.

It’s no secret that the man formerly known as Chad Johnson loves soccer. He grew up playing the game in Florida and is friends with AC Milan star Ronaldinho. Here’s what he told Sports Illustrated about his soccer days:

I played soccer before football, and I was good. That’s where I get my quick feet — my feet are unbelievable. When I got to high school [Miami Beach High], I had to choose between the sports because they were in the same season. I chose football because I saw more opportunity, but it broke my heart. I still follow soccer; I watched every minute I could of the World Cup. I like to think I play football like Ronaldinho, with the trick moves and the anticipation. When he plays soccer, he looks completely different from everybody else. I try to do that too.

In a twitter exchange with ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ochocinco revealed his plans to potentially join Italian Serie A team AC Milan. So he may join his buddy Ronaldinho in early 2011 if the NFL can’t get a deal done. Here are the screengrabs of the tweets:

The most hilarious part of Ochocinco’s potential international soccer career? Chad Ochocinco would become just the THIRD American to ever play in the Italian Serie A. Alexei Lalas was the first when he joined Padova in 1994 and Oguchi Onyewu (out with a torn knee tendon) is currently signed with AC Milan.

It doesn’t seem like a bad idea. Playing in the Italian league would probably pay better than the UFL (or CFL?) and pose less of an injury risk. Ochocinco would also substantially expand his fanbase internationally. Though, one has to wonder if he’d actually make an impact on one of the best teams in the world. He’d be lucky to earn minutes as a substitute considering he hasn’t trained or played in years. And there are still question to be answered about Chad’s move to Italy. Will he change his name to Otto Cinque? Will I have to pay for a new Ochocinco iPhone application? Only time will tell.

PROMO MODEL CLAIMS OCHO CINCO BOUNCES CHECKS

courtney_collins_card

Chad Ocho Cinco writes a lot of checks to the NFL for the many fines he receives. Turns out he writes them to random “promotional models” as well. Now, I’m not saying I buy this… but here’s the rundown.

Over a week ago, a Florida-based promotional model named Courtney Williams (her business card is pictured above) sent out a mass tweet to a variety of gossip bloggers, magazines, and radio/TV personalities. The tweet linked to a photo of a check that she claims was written by the man formerly known as Chad Johnson. The check is from Ocho Cinco Inc. based in Davie, Florida and appears to be for either $1000 or $1500. Unfortunately, you can’t really tell if the check is real and the picture quality is poor. Here are the two messages that Williams attached to pictures of the check.

@ogchocinco @vivaciousmodels @tyrabanks @dimepiecemag @hiphophoneys @llgirlblog @perezhilton @tmzonline Warning to everyone Ochocinco aka Esteban aka Mr Chad Johnson Can’t not pay for it!!! He write’s BOUNCING CHECKs! ATTENTION: All Bitches follow tha rul

@wendyshow Hey Wendy “How U Doin!” Here’s a HOTT Topic for your show. A Professional athletic @ogochocinco who wrote a bad check. W@ho know people of his caliber won’t have money in a bank account to cover a check that was written by Mr. Chad Johnson of t

Apparently, she doesn’t grasp the concept of the character limit on twitter.  It’s unclear why she was being paid by Chad Ocho Cinco. I’m guessing it was “private entertainment” as regular promo models aren’t making a grand per night. Also, legitimate models have portfolios AKA “books” and typically use an agent to book appearances/shoots.  Conversely, prostitutes have business cards.  I did more digging and found out that Williams works for a company called Vivacious Models. Here are a sampling of the images on her MySpace page.

The Young, Black, and Fabulous says Ocho Cinco is also being accused of writing bad checks to other girls in Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, and New Orleans. However, there’s no hard evidence to back that up at this point.

So what’s legit and what’s not? I’d say Chad Johnson could very well be visiting ladies of the night. But I seriously doubt his checks are bouncing. Judging by the way Williams tried to blow this up on twitter, she may have just been looking for 15 minutes of fame. You can see more of Courtney’s modeling pictures on her MySpace page.

OCHOCINCO SAYS ‘09 WILL BE “TOTALLY BANANAS”

The man formerly known as Chad Johnson is famous for running his mouth. He continued to live up to his reputation after the Bengals played their first pre-season game. When asked about a catch, Ochocinco attributed his move on cornerback Jason David to his offseason boxing training. Chad had worked out at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club to improve his elusiveness. Apparently, 85 thinks there are more big things to come this season. The Bengals receiver remarked that his game is “going to be totally bananas.” If “totally bananas” means “solid but overrated”, we agree.

Via Cincinnati.com:

Before the Tweeting and UStream shows, Chad Ochocinco’s workout regimen, which included time in a boxing ring, was one of the more well-discussed topics of the offseason.

In Friday’s preseason opener against New Orleans, the ninth-year wide receiver showed off some of those moves learned in Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club.

During the fourth offensive series of the 17-7 loss to the Saints and with the Bengals facing third and five on their own 32, Ochocinco caught a quick 7-yard pass from Carson Palmer in the left flat. He spun and caused Saints’ cornerback Jason David to miss before turning up the left sideline for a 55-yard gain deep into New Orleans territory.

“It was a boxing move,” said Ochocinco of the play. “It was like I’m standing in the ring, catch the ball and then the dude is coming. It’s like a swim or dodge move where I get myself out of the corner. You’re trapped in the corner, wait for him to swing and ole, you turn around. That’s the same move.”

Ochocinco also showed a little finesse near the sideline as he high stepped and eluded a diving Charles Grant to get 11 more yards. That move he said was something more “T.J.ish than Chadish.” He was referring to former Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who is now in Seattle.

“For me to add that part to my game with what I worked on over this offseason, it’s going to be totally bananas,” said Ochocinco, who finished with two catches for 73 yards.

After last year’s frustrations and the lowest production since his rookie season, Ochocinco has returned to the level of previous years. The 55-yard reception though was not his only highlight.

Earlier in that drive, with the Bengals backed up on their own 9 and facing another third down, Ochocinco ran a perfect route and Palmer hit him for an 18-yard gain and a first down.

“Chad was Chad. He’s looked like that every day in practice so far,” Palmer said. “On that play, Chad was at the perfect depth, perfect timing and when you play like that it makes my job easier when I know exactly where you’re going to be at. He did a great job of converting that for a big first down for us.”
