Joe Morgan is best known as the rambling man in the booth with Jon Miller for Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN. Before his stint on television, Morgan was two-time NL MVP and a winner of two world series. Turns out athleticism runs in the family. His daughter, Ashley Morgan, is a star on the Stanford women’s gymnastics team.
Ashley Morgan is an 18-year-old freshman but it didn’t take her long to succeed. In her first college meet, she posted the highest individual score (9.875 on the vault) and the highest average score (9.83) of the meet. And her competition included a Georgia team that has won the past five NCAA titles.
Joe Morgan wasn’t in attendance for Ashley’s first meet due to a knee injury. Ashley most recently contributed to Stanford’s win over top-ranked UCLA. Morgan put up a 9.925 on the floor routine in the victory. Ashley’s twin sister, Kelly, plays soccer at USC.
