TIM LINCECUM WON’T FACE WEED POSSESSION CHARGES

Giants Lincecum Pot Baseball

Tim Lincecum was pulled over for speeding this week with a small amount of marijuana and a pipe. As a result, he was facing a $250 fine for possession and a $122 fine for the speeding violation.

Turns out that the speeding was the only charge that will stick. The Clark County District Attorney has dropped the marijuana charge. Here’s what DA Grant Hansen said about the dropped charge:

“Any Joe blow would get (this deal). The way we see it, we can do something to him or we can do something for him. If we can give him a little leniency the first time, in my opinion, it goes further for being law-compliant in the future than if we kick him in the teeth.”

Hansen indicated that about 10-20 similar marijuana possession cases were dropped PER WEEK in the county. Technically, Lincecum agreed to plead guilty of the paraphernalia charge for his pipe with the drug possession charge being dropped. It’s unclear if the Giants plan to punish him for the incident.

DIRTY BIRD GROUNDED IN POT BUST

Eagles DE Juqua Parker was detained by police early Wednesday morning after marijuana was found in his possession.  The cops pulled over the vehicle driven by Todd Herremans after he made and illegal turn.  He also forgot to turn on his headlights.  Could it be that he and Parker were going for a quick smoke after practice?  Former NFL player Mark Stepnoski was on ESPN’s Outside the Lines a few years ago and talked about his marijuana use.  He said he circumvented the NFL’s testing by not smoking prior to training camp and abstaining until he’d passed the test.  I’d guess that these Eagles players are in the same boat.

Via Miami Herald:

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Juqua Parker was reportedly taken into custody early Wednesday morning after the player was apparently found in possession of marijuana while riding in a vehicle driven by teammate Todd Herremans.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the car was stopped near Lehigh University, the home of the Eagles’ training camp, at 12:30 a.m. (et) at the intersection of Route 378 and North Mountain Drive in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Herremans, an offensive guard, was pulled over and cited for making an illegal left turn and driving without headlights, at which time a small amount of marijuana was found in the van. The players were said to be cooperative with officers.

Herremans was given a breathalyzer test and blew a .05, under the 0.08 legal limit, according to police.

The 32-year-old Parker, who resides in Medford, New Jersey, was released at 5:30 a.m. on $1,000 bail following a hearing.
