STREP SACKED: TIM TEBOW WENT TO THE HOSPITAL

Tim Tebow throwing at the Senior Bowl

Tim Tebow’s second day at Senior Bowl practice may have gone better than the first. But that might just be because he has an excuse for his poor performance. Word is the Tebow has been battling strep throat and was hospitalized Monday night.

However, Tebow still showed up for the afternoon practice sessions with the South squad. Fans who came to see him were delighted with a display of indecision but apparently he threw the ball “OK” according to the National Football Post. Tebow managed to cut down on the botched snaps and only fumbled one in the session.

His agent, Jimmy Sexton, said that Tebow has been sick for two days. The agent also noted that he’s had a 103 temperature.  Insert distasteful abortion joke here.

VIDEO: ANDY RODDICK NAILS TWO GUYS IN THE ASS

Andy Roddick is known for his powerful serve. He’s been clocked at 155 mph in the past. So you probably don’t want to be on the receiving end of that bad boy… especially with your ass.

James Blake recently had the displeasure of being targeted by Roddick’s serve. Blake lost a practice match to Roddick and was forced to line up and face Andy’s stroke. As you can see, Blake and one buddy are smart enough to straddle their racquets for sack protection. The guy on the right isn’t so lucky. Roddick impressively manages to hit two of them. More entertaining than the infliction of pain was the chatter from both sides. Here’s the exchange:

“Ohhhh… he’s HAMMERING me!” – guy in three-man wall
“I wanted to spread the love around a little bit.” – Andy Roddick

Nope, tennis isn’t gay at all. Not one bit. Here’s the video (hit the play button in the lower left):

THE BUCCANEERS ARE TOO GOOD FOR PRACTICE

Buccaneers Freeman Football

The Buccaneers are the sole winless team in the NFL. I picked them before the season to be the worst in the NFL and they’ve come through. After starting with Byron Leftwich, they may be down to their third quarterback. You’d think that the Buccaneers might go into the bye week looking to work on their game.

But you’d be wrong. Tampa Bay hasn’t practiced very much since returning from London. In fact, they’ve practiced a measly two and a half hours in the past twelve days. The worst team in the NFL won’t hit the practice field again until tomorrow. That’s bad news as the Buccaneers enter the Josh Freeman Era. Here’s what Raheem Morris had to say about the practice schedule:

“No, we set the schedule up a while ago. You make the decision long before you go into the bye week with what you are going to do, whether you are 0-7 or 7-0. That really didn’t matter. What we did (Thursday) was the preparation and the fundamental core beliefs with these guys. We got a chance to get Josh implemented to be a starter and get done what he needed to get done. We’ll come back and get two weeks of practice. We had one day (Wednesday) of preparation, and we’ll come back the following week and get done what we need to get done.”

The rookie quarterback will face the Packers on Sunday — yet they haven’t been game-planning for Green Bay. Freeman has tantalizing raw talent but he’s, well, extremely raw. The kid has no pocket presence and lacks awareness. He’s mobile but not fast (think Ben Roethlisberger) and he can be chased defenders if he scrambles. Freeman was in for nine plays in the Bucs last game and managed to take a delay of game penalty, took two sacks, and fumbled once. It’s going to be hilarious to see the kind of line he puts up in a full game (or before he gets pulled).

DEVIN THOMAS WEARS GRILL, SHINES DURING PRACTICE

Dan Steinberg over at the D.C. Sports Bog runs perhaps the finest “mainstream media blog” in existence. I care very little about D.C. sports but constantly find myself reading his stuff. Yesterday, Steinberg unearthed another great tidbit of information from Devin Thomas. After bringing out a wheelchair for veteran Fred Smoot while he spoke to the media, Thomas spoke about his grill saying:

“Man, I was just trying to shine out here, make plays, that’s why I’ve got it in,” he told some of the TV folks. “Let the DBs know where I’m at. I told them I was gonna shine on them, so I had to bring it out today.”

Of course. Everybody knows that you have to shine at all times. And obviously, that includes wearing a grill while you’re playing tackle football. I thought lines like that were only reserved for faux thugs on G’s to Gents. Fred Smoot’s reaction to Thomas was pretty funny as well. Aside from calling him an idiot, he said, “Do not listen to that guy.” I think we would’ve come to that conclusion on our own. Maybe the VIBE shoot went to his head.  You can see a picture of the grill over at the D.C. Sports Bog.
