PHIL JACKSON SEZ ARTEST HURT BY HIS CHINESE SHOES

Ron Artest has a new injury… or injuries. The Lakers’ small forward has developed plantar fasciitis in both feet. Head coach Phil Jackson thinks that the cause of the injury might be Artest’s footwear.

Artest, along with Jason Kidd and Shane Battier, have deals with a Chinese shoe company called Peak Shoes. Phil Jackson has noted that the shoes seem less than top quality:

“I’ve called his shoes concrete boots for about the last month. Those shoes look like they are made for the Hudson River. But he stays with them and he gets his feet worked on. But he does not move really quickly. He looks like he’s clogging around out there.”

Jackson also said that Artest may have to sit if his poor play continues. TruWarier had announced the injury himself on twitter on Sunday. He also said later that the injury has “gotten a lot better.” In other news, Phil Jackson gave out books to the entire team and chose Sacred Hoops for Ron Artest. The author of Sacred Hoops is… Phil Jackson.

NUTS & BOLTS: RON ARTEST HAS ADVICE FOR TIGER

Who among us could turn down advice from this man?

Who among us could turn down advice from this man?

Ron Artest is a very interesting dude. Surprisingly, his advice for Tiger Woods is possibly the most sensible thing I have read about this whole frenzy since it began Thanksgiving weekend. His main point is, “I can tell you are a stand-up guy. Please remember only Jesus is perfect.” I can’t necessarily vouch for Ron Artest’s judgment of character, but his point is that Tiger is human, and made a mistake that unfortunately a lot of people make. And Ron Artest knows a thing or two (or three) about mistakes. (LA Daily News)

Hey, speaking of Jose Reyes.  Dr. Anthony Galea, the doctor under investigation for treating Tiger Woods and other prominent athletes also treated Reyes. Uh-oh? (NYT)

John Harper of the Daily News speculates that the Mets conservative “wait-and-see” approach this winter may be related to the absence of the fired Tony Bernazard. (NY Daily News)

RON ARTEST SAID HE COULD COME TO NYC… TO COACH

58514004

Ron Artest is known for doing and saying crazy things but he made a lot of sense when talking about the Knicks. The Lakers’ small forward recently talked about players’ potential fear of coming to the Big Apple. Artest said that most players are afraid of pressure and the media.

Ron Ron said that he wouldn’t feel any pressure in New York. He also believes that LeBron can succeed in NYC. Artest went on to say “f*ck the media” and that he was “always trying” to get to New York. Unfortunately, that won’t happen now. At least as a player. Here’s what Artest had to say about an eventual return to New York:

“Everybody knows how I feel about New York now. I was always trying to get there…I love New York. Maybe when my career is over I can go there and probably do something with the organization or something. I don’t know. Maybe coach or something.”

So yeah, TruWarier may actually come back to the City. Unfortunately, he thinks it could be as a coach instead of a player. Hey, it can’t be worse than Isiah.

RON ARTEST CONSIDERED PLAYING IN GREECE

Warriors Lakers Basketball

As you may know, Ron Artest in an international playboy. He spent quite a bit of time in China this year and even met Shin Shin (video below). Yesterday, he talked to Dan Patrick about his love for Greece.

The Lakers’ small forward said he nearly signed with the Cavs but he and his agent decided to wait it out. They didn’t have anybody call them until the Lakers inquired about Artest’s interest in signing. Tru Warier also said that playing in Greece was an option as well:

“The only other option I had was Greece. I really wanted to go to Greece but when the Lakers called, I kind of forgot about Greece. That was like one of my first options. I really wanted to go to Greece and my other option of course was Houston. But I’m not really sure what happened with Houston. Because I went to Greece like seven years ago, I got a couple friends out there and I knew I’d like the culture and kind of grew attached to Greece and always wanted to play there.”

It’s hard to imagine Ron Artest in Greece but it would probably be awesome. Though playing in Europe may have hampered his burgeoning rap career.

RON ARTEST HINTS AT UPCOMING REALITY SHOW

We’ve seen him re-enact the Malice at the Palace on YouTube. We’ve heard his Michael Jackson tribute and there’s also video of him rapping in China. Is reality TV next for Ron Artest? In a recent radio interview, Artest said that he has the “biggest sports story of the whole year” in the works and that it will be “the ultimate turnaround of Ron Artest.” Hopefully, the show involves rapping, bleacher-hurdling, or China. Perhaps he’ll go to the part of China with super-tall freaks and teach them how to ball. A better guess is that it has something to do with Ron Ron’s old stomping grounds of Queensbridge. In any case, it’s 100% guaranteed to be more entertaining than The T.O. Show.

On getting a reality show:

“I’m working on something right now and it’s gonna be the biggest sports story of the whole year. I promise you.”

Can you tell the people about it?

“I would love to but it’s like the ultimate turnaround of Ron Artest. You heard it here first. I’m gonna come back on your show and you guys are just gonna go outta your minds. I would love to tell you right now but I did a couple of things this summer that got a lot of buzz and I’m gonna do something that’s bigger than that. It’s gonna be cool.”

THE RON ARTEST RE-ENACTMENT

Ron Artest has been touring China lately. You may have seen our post with him rapping at a Chinese club. Apparently, he’s been vlogging on the road as well. We came across this video of him re-enacting the Malice at the Palace. We’ve got a couple more pictures of him in China and the video after the jump. I love that he’s walking around China in a weighted vest.

RON RON RAPS IN CHINA

Ron Artest may have signed a new contract with the Lakers, but he’s still working on his second career. The St. Johns by way of Queensbridge product has been known to dabble in rapping. Apparently, the Tru Warrier is in China (with Kobe? or something else?) and had the opportunity to showcase his flow. In the video, Artest explains to China that he’s “so hood” with an auto-tuned hook. Note that he’s rocking a DETROIT Tigers hat. Also note that his line at about 4:40 is “Sh*t, I’m like Osama”… or “sh*ttin’ like Osama.” Yes, Mr. Artest, we are entertained.
