VIDEO: BROKEN GLASS = BOTCHED CELEBRATION

andersen_hockey_goal_celebration

You know what sucks? When you’re trying to look cool but then end up looking like an ass. That happened to Henrik Andersen of Leksand in the second-tier Swedish hockey league.

Andersen had just scored a beautiful goal after a toe drag move on the defenseman. The backhand goal was cause for celebration, so Andersen went to bump the glass in celebration. Unfortunately, it didn’t look nearly as cool as when Alexander Ovechkin does it.

The Swedish forward ended up dislodging the plexiglass and falling over the boards.  But hey… at least the goal was nice.  Also, I would give $1,000,000 to hear Bob Saget do the voiceover for this video.

SWEDEN UNVEILS OLYMPIC HOCKEY SQUAD CANDIDATES

With the recent rule changes in the NHL, Swedish players have become huge contributors to the league. The Swedish squad should also be a contender for the gold medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics. Swedish coach Bengt-Åke Gustafsson released the list of European-based players that he’s considering for his Olympic team. Clearly, NHL stars like Henrik Lundqvist and half of the Detroit Red Wings will be included on the final squad. At the same time, the New York Times notes that this updated list of European candidates is much stronger than the previous releases.
